New York will fine you if you don't have your HUT sticker properly displayed, even if you have all the paperwork and permit with you.

A missing or damaged turn signal lens can result in a ticket in some states. If you have your registration in Illinois, it cannot be faxed or it is not valid and is so stated on the cab card. My home state has no such restriction. :roll:

Marker light out or not burning.
Tag light out on trailer.
Not wearing a seat belt as seen while crossing a scale.
Drinking a soft drink, etc., while driving. Don't laugh, it happened to a guy I know. He took a sip of a drink while entering a scale.

It is stupid that a driver has to be cited for them since they are all so easy to check, and unlike other things they are not likely to happen in transit during the day after doing a good PTI.

I think the OP (and Uturn2001)meant stupid on the part of the driver, not the DOT.

instead of "stupid" maybe he meant "ridiculous" as in some of the crazy stuff we have been cited for

The log does not have to be current within the 2 hour time frame. The logs has to be current with the LAST duty status change. If you go to driving make sure the line is drawn down to line 3 BEFORE you take off!

You should be keeping logs current to last duty status change, getting caught without them being current (now a days) will get you in some MAJOR fines. DOT is not playing around with the simple stuff anymore. You can believe me or NOT! I am stating F-A-C-T-S. Make sure the log is current, make sure you are logging legal, make sure you are not driving over your 11,14 or 70 hour rule and make sure you are not speeding. You might have a chance passing your audit if you do the above things!
