Europeans don,t have six leggers. Most British trucks are though, so we can plate them to 44 tonne.

It depends on what you want to do with the truck and your personal preferences. From a business standpoint, an aerodynamically designed truck will usually get better fuel economy and probably cost less than a wind catcher, such as a 379 Peterbilt or W900 Kenworth. Although these two may hold more of their resale value, they will also cost more and use more fuel than an aero truck. I have had good service out of International. I have owned several brands of trucks but prefer the roominess of the sleeper area to others I have owned. Peterbilt has very small closets, if you have the 379. I also own a Kenworth. While I like the truck, I am not crazy about how they have laid out the sleeper. I would make a list of what is important to you and start looking around at different brands and models. Most trucks have basically the same engines and drive trains. There are a few who have their own engines. You are essentially talking about which skin you prefer.

joezgrrl...we're bumping your thread to the top, but need more info to give you an informed opinion on what Tractor is right for you.

I have my personal favorites, but what good is that to you?
There is no real best all purpose consideration...unless you add your wants and needs to the equation.

You didn't say whether you were buying new or used, or what kind of work you are doing, but you want to get the most of your money

if you but KW or Peterbilt you are paying alot more than you would for a Freightliner, International, Volvo,

You have to think about this, do you want to pay a 10 or 15 thousand more for a truck, that is not going to make any more money than you would with one of these other trucks, and also can you afford to make those bigger payments every month

Just remember that the truck is a tool to make money, and buying a less expensive truck will make you more money in the long run

you should do your research about the different trucks and see what different features you like, go to the dealers and look at the different trucks, don't buy a truck because someone else might think you are cool because you are driving a Peterbilt, and don't buy a truck based on someone elses opinion,

you get a lot less truck for the money buying KW or Peterbilt,

If I were going to buy another New truck, I would probably go with another Freightliner, Mid roof Classic, that was my first new truck, because I was paying about a thousand dollars less per month than if I went with the new Kenworth, and I still had a good looking truck

I own a Kenworth now but I did not buy it new, I bought an older one and fixed it up, because I don't do really long hauls anymore, and I don't want to go back to making big payments
