Screwed the Pooch?

Jimbo, here's an alternative: Grab the phone book...look up concrete companies....ones that have mixer trucks and give them a call. Its a local job that can pay fairly well in some areas and you would be at home every night and still have a job with benefits. Those companies usually like people with Class A licenses because they know to pass the test you have to be able to handle a larger vehicle than theirs.
There may be other opportunities in your area. Look for them. But if you are hell bent on driving OTR, I suggest that maybe one course of action is to hop in your car...dressed in a business-like manner and truck on up 85 to Greer, and stop in at the Swift Terminal there....and get serious in a face to face with them...and be ready to do some "groveling" if necessary. Your circumstances have placed you in a precarious position....and you have to find your way out. You may have to be quick on your feet, yet humble and contrite. Consider your goals, and your needs. Go from there. But first and foremost...evaluate your needs, consider your families needs, and get your spouses input and respect it. I wish you luck!

I say it a million times over and over, go up to the orange bar on this page and cick on company listings, there you can apply to all your heart desires and out of te 1000,s of companies someone will hire you, no matter if you worked one day for 50 companies, most of these large companies like the ones youo worked for will hire you back even.... so just apply to all and sit and watch the recruiter jump to get you hired

Give Falcon a call.
They will get you home every weekend even when training. They are family oriented . I've been with them 8 months now and been home every weekend. I am flatbedding and make about 1 k a week average, give or take , depending on how hard you will run and the ups and downs of frieght. TMC, Maverick and others say they will get you home but after two weeks and other excuses, etc. Falcon is very lenient and many times you get to pick loads accordingly. You never hear much bad about Falcon and what bad I have heard was brought on by themselves mostly that I could see. Sure they are not a perfect co but who is,lol. For a starter company they are fine. Good chance of regional after some time. I got dedicated after 3 months time. It's not dead nuts dedicated but as much as possible for my location. Ins. time off, holidays , etc all comparable. My holiday pay average is 169 a day now after 8 mos. P.S. , these 8 months have flown by staying busy while on the road, don't dilly dally and make the m ost of your time while out there and you will be OK. God Bless and good luck. P.S. if you go with Falcon I would appreciate the refferal to make a few extra bucks, if you feel I desrve it in your heart. |
