I submitted my application Friday and got a call the same day. The recruiter was super nice. Asked me what time of home time I am looking for. I told them every weekend would be nice. The recruiter said they had a SE regional run and specialized glass and I would be out 3 weeks with specialized. I said no thanks to specialized. So I have to fill out some forms and notarized letter stating I have been out of work since July. I'm so excited I hope I get in.

Yeah that's what I thought to. That's why I am really hoping they will accept me into the program. They said training would be in Thomasville NC which is pretty good because I am only 1 and half hour from there. And I think they have a terminal in Laurinburg which is about 45 min. away. So maybe I will have decent home time. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Good job jcg. Get those papers filled out and sent in. They like it when you are prompt with the paperwork. My work history was pretty simple to put together...with only a couple of hangups to account for. Instead of them having to verify everything, I took it upon myself to get the paperwork they needed for verification and they had me pre-hired in like a day and a half or something. I don't remember exactly, but it was quick. I told the recruiter that I needed a job and I needed to go to work. She was very helpful in telling me what I needed for verification in order to speed the process.
Good Luck! and if you have any questions..feel free to pm me or post here. I will be home until about noon tomorrow, then I'm off to Ok City. Arky

Funny how every application is differently handled. I submitted my app. in Aug and told them that I wasn't in a hurry & I had a little business to tie up before oreientation. I sent all info in a timely manner and have been hung out to dry.. No phone calls, no e-mails nothing.. I called them several times & my info seems to fall thru the cracks regularly. I was honest and prompt. I have no major issues to report but to this day no action or even interest. I have a clean record out side of one ticket back in 1992... I have great credit and have served our country for the past 28 years. Retired with honors, no answer or even courtesy from the recruiters.. It, as another recruiter stated, fallen between the cracks..I e-mailed and have been every bit a gentileman as possible.. What is up with this... It is a shame that an industry that claims to need good people would allow there company to fall flat on there ass like this.. Maybe I'm not what they are looking for .. If so just give the common courtesy of saying so.. No answer & the cold shoulder is a bush league way of doing business..

I hate they let some people fall through the cracks like that. Going off what you said about yourself you would in IMHO would be someone they would want to talk to. Arky I will be sure to have it done asap the latest Tuesday to show that I am serious. I let them know up front that I was in need of a job and in need of one quick. I hope they don't frown on me being out of work since July. And only working at my last job 2.5 years.

If for some reason you don't get on with Maverick (I'm planning to apply there too) you may want to check out Cypress. The are mainly SE regional and guarantee you home every weekend. (I know the true meaning of guarantee) Just thought I'd share the information.

I see cypress's tarps all the time going up and down 75 with the guaranteed hometime statement written on the back, but i was out last night hauling a load of sod up from Myakka City and passed one of their trucks running north on 75. Now there could plenty of explanations for that, maybe the driver wanted to stay out, or who knows. But like you, i understand the true meaning of "home weekends", plus i find it funny for being as big of a company as they are, Cypress sure runs some junk equipment, heck my local daycab looks more comfortable than most of the junk they got runnin around out there.
