Super Single (is what its usually referred to as) is where instead of keeping the truck moving 24/7, you each drive for 8 and sleep for 8.
Advantages and disadvantages should be fairly obvious. Advantages...you get a chance to sleep without the truck moving, you get time with your spouse. Disadvantage, you get to sleep without the truck moving ($$$), and you get time with your spouse. (kidding, of course)

When I was OTR with Gordon I met a couple that were O/O's for Gordon who ran super-single a lot. They had a nice new Volvo and apparenly loved running super-single. The good thing is they were hired on contract as super-single and they had the option of running as hard or as easy as they wanted. They seemed to love the idea of sleeping while the truck was stopped (can't blame them!) Just some more food for thought.

Our company has an older couple who run as super single because they don't like to drive at night. I think it's kinda cool. 8)
But younger couples could do it, too. It'd still be cool. You drive a while, then I'll drive a while, and then come sunset we're shuttin' this puppy down....whataya say we go to a movie tonight? 8)

I did 6 weeks of super single with my mentor during training...I actually really enjoyed running it (especially the part about sleeping in a truck thats not moving!!) and still made a pretty good paycheck
