I fully understand that Practical cpm is MUCH better.

It's just that I see many companies say they pay HHG, PcMiller, or McNally and I did not know if those three are completely different animals or the same B.S. with different names.

Also, one company that I am looking at (seems to meet many of my needs) says they would start me off at 0.34 PcMiller. What would that equal roughly in Practical miles? Around 0.30 practical??

PC miler has two options shortest and practical,ask which they use as an example:
Flint,Mi to Tampa Fl 1206 mi on shortest,1236 pratical mi

1206x .34cpm= $410.04
1236x .34cpm= $420.34

I arrive at that figure by taking the .34 - 7% = .3162 (just rounded down to .30) Would that be a fair assumption?

No that would not be a fair assumption. If a company owed you $3162 and they sent you a check for $3000 would you consider that fair. In this business you have to use the numbers that you have. I hope you see how important that .0162 can be.
