the straight truck drivers for U.S.Mail here make any where from $14 to $21 depending upon how the route was bid but either way it is a damm good gig bad part is no bennies unless ya gey on with a big company.

I agree with checking local deliveries, but remember the pay ain't that good. However best idea check with your local postal distribution center, most trucks are contractor owned and they always need drivers, pay is prevailing wage. You can start in a straight truck and move to the semis with some contractors

i drive a straight truck for a mail contractor and the hourly pay is $20.56 and yes we do have all the benefits. on the flip side you must have 2 years of tractor trailer experience. it may be different with other companies (I doubt it) but this companies requires 2 years tractor trailer exp.

I drive expedited for a fleet owner. But really, I Agree with some of the folks on here. You are better off learning to drive a tractor in your environment, plus it will give you the experience you need for your resume. But if you are sure you want to drive a straight truck, go with local. You'll be more satisfied with it. And not all companies force you to have Hazmat. Neither my wife or I have it yet, and we make good money where we are at.
