Some companies that choose to run day cabs (ie mail carriers, auto carriers) will put thier company drivers in a motel for the night. Most of the companies that do this run the same routes every day and/or week, and have accounts set up at motels along the route.

A com card is probably referring to a Comdata card. It is an account set up with Comdata by a trucking company for drivers to purchase fuel and sometimes other items (oil, washer fluid, etc). Comdata also has payroll services that a company can use to pay its drivers.

There are a lot of companies that do. Most are day cabs though I run in a sleeper just in case the roads cause me to shut down somewhere other than a hotel.

A lot of car haulers stay at hotels, construction, and of course a lot of your food service industry people. Supervalu, USF, McLane, Sysco, Core-Mark, etc.
