Default Central Refrigerated schooling

I am looking into going to the Central driving school. Could anyone tell me anything about the school and/or company. It all sounds pretty good, but you never really know for sure. Thanks

Central Refrig uses some contract schools as well, Don't go to the one in Lufkin, Tx. It is a CDL mill. Sooner you can get tested the sooner they run you off.. Not much bacling practice outside of wht is required by the DPS.. Good Luck!!!

I agree that central drivers need schooling, so far this month I seen 3 of their trucks do some really dumb things, one was not looking in his mirrors and thought he could switch lanes with me next to him... yes central ref drivers need more schooling.

Two week course. Five days in the class studying for the written tests. Four days driving to get ready for the DPS road test. One day for the actual test then your last day is a half day to do whatever. They packed five students per truck when I was there, yes FIVE. Not much in the way of driving time if five students are in one truck for only four days. In that four short days you learn backing shifting and road driving. It was also piss poor training to boot. I would not recommend their school. As a company they may be different. If you can't get it together quick you'll be extended another week or more. This is in their Irving, TX location. However all of their company schools are owned and operated by a different company.

try searching-there was a guy on here who had basically a book written about driving for central. I cant remember his name but you will see it because there are lots of pages.

I found it. Search under central refrigerated and scroll down to the one titled- My first few months at central. You should get all the info there.

The guys name was cockroach.

I also have started a log from central here in irving . who cares what anyone else says the school is good , if you arent ready to test you wont test and they dont normally extend the training if you cant get it down within 3 weeks then you probably wont. ALl the trucks I was in to train only had 3 max the try to put you with people that are close to your skill level. By the end of the 3rd day i was driving all the way to seagoville and back through down town , can blindside and 45 degree back. the people there are str8 forward they dont try to feed you no B.S there websitte is www.centralref.com its a great company i havent heard anything negative from anyof there drivers. they have allot of vets that came here from other companies and have nothing but praise about how they are treated compared to the rest.

And the schooling is inexpensive compared to others.

over and out C.W
