Default How Do You Get...

How do you get your Hazmat and doubles endorsement? I am starting to look at schools right now and was wondering if this is something they offer? If not, how do you go about getting these endorsements?

I have my doubles, and when I got hired on with SYSCO,I walked into the DPS office, and I took my test, and got the endorsement. Unless they have changed, you wont have to take a driving test,if you already have your Class A. Just go into your local DPS office, and take the test. Wah lah!

Your double/triple and tank endorsements are merely a matter of taking a written test.

For a hazmat you have to take the written test, then go and get fingerprinted and have a TSA background check done.

Many schools do cover the hazmat section of the CDL manual, as many companies (including a lot of the training companies) want you to have the hazmat endorsement.

So, I can pull double or triples (in my state) if I take a written? No road test at all?

What does the Hazmat endosement allow me to do? I have had the 10 year TSA check done in a previous career. No problems.

Default HazMat Endorsement

Allows you, with further training, to haul stuff that glows in the dark, goes "BOOM" either intentionally or not, car batteries and hairspray, fertilizer, paints, among other freight. Sometimes it takes imagination to get hazmat placards to stick on a flatbed tarp.
"I can pull doubles or triples (in my state) if I take and pass a written test? No road test at all?" An employer pulling dubs or trips will train you further in the mysteries of multiple trailers and road test you.
