As a company driver are there any advantages to working for a reefer carrier?
It seems like more troublewith the noise, additional claims issues of some food, dealing with lumpers and long wait times, etc. I can see the appeal of having a reefer as an O/O as it gives you more options for what you can haul to get out of a bad area.

It can be more of a hassle pulling a reefer. For some whom I have met, they would not pull anything else. It can give you options whether you are an owner operator or company driver. With a reefer, you can pull both van and reefer freight. With a van you can only pull box freight. The down side to pulling the reefer is that you are usually heavier than a regular box or van trailer.
