If I wanted to work for a company that runs west coast, and I live in the southeast, how would that work; and is it even possible? I thought I saw someone say you can do that but you have to sign something. I'm also guessing you would have to do your hometime on the road at motels and stuff?

It depends on where their freight lanes take you. I used to run almost exclusively West Coast. It will probably not be a problem. I know of some companies that run from Georgia to California and back every week. Most companies will work with you so that you can get home when you need to be there. It is possible that you could get laid over somewhere, but most should try to get you home. From my home in Tennessee, I can easily be in California in 3 1/2 days. It isn't that difficult to get there and do a turn in just over a week driving solo.
