Is the DOT Physical that you take to get your CDL Permit the same type that is given during orientation by a company? I was told that a doctor comes to orientation and does the company DOT physical at the orientation location.

Some companies have doctors or Nurse practitioners to do the dot physicals on site. More often than that, you will be taken to a local clinic and everyone goes through the physicals and drug screens there. It's kind of a drag and takes quite a long time. Bring lots of reading material unless you like golf and or women's magazines. I also suggest not eating anything after midnight and not drinking anything but water untl the physical and drug screen is over. Most guys who fail will fail for having high BP or have some sugar or protein in their urine.

BigDawg - you were booted due to vision issues?
Is the test tough? I wear glasses for distance vision. I certainly hope they will let me wear them when I take the test. If I have to go without glasses, I am toast.

To answer your question simply.
They will check for the same things during your orientation physical as they did in the last one.

Yes Jd don't sweat it i have other probs' with vision that others may not have such as extreme dry eye syndrome which is like when you wake up in the morning feels like someone threw a shovel full of sand in your eyes that is some of the syms. of dry eye syndrome. Thanks to advanceed medicene and 2 yrs. later i'm on meds. that cost roughly $350 per month to help control this.
So if you already wear glasses to drive then that is what yyou will wear when you test your vision don't sweat it.

Thanks for the answer. I should be able to pass 20/40. I'm getting some new glasses with the non-reflective coating. That is supposed to be better for night-time driving - they reduce the "halo" effect caused by oncoming headlights and street lights.
