On my list need to leave with trainer on wednesday for hogan it says I need a sleeping bag. Now would it be a problem if I brought covers? Sleeping bag makes no sence to me. I dont sleep with one nor do I plan to. What did you guys use in training?

Sleeping bag is just a suggestion; any bedding will do as long as it doesn't take up a lot of room in your bags. I brought sheets (twin size, which doesn't fit the bunk exactly but does the job), a light blanket and a pillow. All of that rolled up tightly in a duffel bag didn't take up much room and worked fine.

Shannon offers sound advice. Sleeping bags generally roll up and don't take much room but use your discretion.

you definetly schould bring a sleeping bag never know it could get real cold real fast then your truck breaks down and you say to your self dmm wish id brought a sleeping bag

Yeah sleeping bag get one of though's Mummy Bag's they are actually used when people go climbing for the high climbers they keep you real warm. That's what I have lol. it works wonders.

If you would rather use sheets and blankets that is fine. Most companies just suggest a sleeping bag because it is easy to handle and deal with.

BTW, I always carried a sleeping bag in the truck when I was a solo driver. You never know when you might break down in the middle of nowhere when it is -20 out and you can not run the engine for heat. A good sleeping bag along with warm clothes can make the difference between life and death, IMHO.

I may just buy this one, there are ones that can make you warm to - 10 degrees but dang wouldnt you be sweating like crazy in texas?

Who says you MUST zip it up? You can just open it up and lay there on top of it. But if you're in a truck temperarily, or slip-seating, it's a whole lot more convenient than sheets and blankets.

when i was out with my trainer i definately had a sleeping bag with me because quite often i had to sleep in the lower bunk(which was the trainers bunk) while he drove.. so it was very nice to be able to put my sleeping bag down and sleep in that rather then be laying in someone elses bed and having to be in contact with their bed.

so yeah sleeping bag is good while with a trainer.

At hogan thier new policy is I go out for 4 weeks, drive 2500 to 2800 miles max and the trainer never drives, just gives advice and does the trip planing for 3 weeks, then the last week I will be doing it all, it will be very akward to me with us both sleeping at the same time, I hope to hell that he allows the truck to idle. I also roll over alot and being on top bunk he might say to pipe down :lol:

But yeah I bought one today for 33 bucks its a coleman
