Default Family arguments

So here's my story, no I'm not a driver right now, I'm currently in the usmc I get out in a couple of months and plan on getting a cdl and go otr though but here's the issue. My parents heavily object to this. When I had one year left we got into a heated debate especially with my mother. It first started by them asking me if I was gonna renlist. So I told them no and that I planned on being a truck driver. And that's when my mom freaked out a little bit and she was like " oh and be like your father and never be home there's a thousand things better for you out there why don't you either stay in or go be a cop. And went on and on and we still have small debates like that. My dad does the same thing too he'll be like well what about welding and constantly say "ya know?" Or ask what I plan on doing after I get out after I already told them. It just gets old. I admit I wanted to be a driver for a long time but I did wanna join the military first. So I joined right after high school did almost 4 years now and found that I didn't like having the government picking a career for me and thought its time to move on. I can't even talk to hardly any one back home about this except my brother cause every body else just seems to shun me down or think I'm stupid. I love my folks and all buts such a head ace. And when July comes and when I go back into civilian life. Things might get ugly. I hope not anyways.

Ultimately, it is your decision. You are the one that has to deal with the results of any decision you make. The military can be a good career for some people. But, it isn't for everyone. Neither is trucking. You won't know if driving is what you wish to do unless you give it a try. I am sure your mom and dad would like to have you home more frequently. If that is what you want, you might find a local driving job and be home most nights. Being on the road can be challenging for those in relationships. But, so is being in the military. You can usually get home every couple of weeks as a driver. As you know, deployments in the military are much longer. I know drivers who have married and grown a family and others who have not. You are still young. Now is the time to try different career choices so you can settle into something you really enjoy in a few years. Good luck to you.
