Hobo, you and I know for a fact that one or two people do not represent the whole. I'm pretty conservative. I don't believe the government should tell me what I can shoot, drive or buy. So in that sense I disagree with Dems. However, I also disagree with Republicans too. Abortion, IMHO, should be allowed under certain circumstances like rape, incest or if needed due to medical reasons. I agree that it should have a cutoff of no more than the second trimester at best. I think where most people get passionate is when abortion is used as a form of birth control. That is when I get upset. Someone screws around on a date or is drunk and then gets an abortion. That person or persons should have taken the responsibilty to use birth control in the first place. But, because they didn't a life gets snuffed out. I'm sure I'll get flamed for my point of view on this, but you know what? I don't give a crap. I don't know these people and they don't know me.

I go to church every Sunday and I'm a born again Christian. But, I don't always take what the religious right spouts with blind faith. I'm sure my opinion on abortion would not go over lightly at church. But, that is between me and God. On the flip side I don't support laws allowing gay marriage. I support the death penalty, which any church frowns upon because it's taking a life. The Bible is all about interpretation and thus can be interpreted almost anyway you want. All I can do is listen to an opposing viewpoint and move on with my life.

I think the main thing that divides Republicans and Dems, IMHO, is Dems want big brother like government while Reps want smaller govt and more state control. Dems want lots of social programs which in turn require high taxes to support them. Reps do not. Life is what you make it. I was raised in a middle class working family. I was never given anything. I had to take out student loans to go to school. I had to get a job at 15 so I could by a used car to get around. My parents weren't well off and with 6 kids they did the best they could. So why should kid A get all kinds of social services and help with school when kid B can't get any of it because his Mom and Dad work to put food on the table. Social services don't work and they are abused heavily. I saw enough of that in EMS running calls in the bad neighborhoods. Adults who didn't want to work because the govt paid their rent, bought thier food and gave them medical insurance too. Their sense of entitlement made me sick. The govt was never intended to take care of the needs of it's citizens. It's there to provide infrastructure, police, EMS and fire services.

Most importantly, to everyone here, is to be civil to each other. Why crack on someone for having an opposing view? I can understand if someone is talking foolish nonsense, but why get all upset over politics and turn this into a hate session?

Sorry about that had a little extra help called a 4 year old last night wanting to learn how to type. What I was trying to say is Cheney represents the Neoccon that has taken over the GOP at the expense of the true conservatives and those who want smaller goverment. Just look at some of their Judges they will not appoint anyone to the bench unless they think life begins at conception. They attack anyone that dares think for themselves and also tries to make them actually help the people that need it. When you Presidential Candidates have to prove their faith in God just to get votes from the extreme wing of the party there is something wrong.

The abortion issue is a state matter, not the job of the Federal Government.
My personal belief is that is the woman’s’ right to a abortion.
Now if the “conservative Christians” wish to outlaw abortion, OK. Let’s do it for awhile, but we will do it a slightly different way.
Absolutely no abortions under any circumstances. (And that includes the rich also, that for years have sent their darling daughters Europe to “study” when in fact they were having a abortion.)
But, if a woman is pregnant, she will be required by law to have the child, then after the birth of the child, that child will be wrapped in a blanket, placed in a basket, and placed on the steps of the church, where then the parishioners, all anti-abortion, will then draw straws, having a drawing, lottery, whatever and the “winner” will then be required by the same law that makes abortion illegal, to adopt the child in a good Christian manner. Along with the newborn child, the basket and the blanket, there will also be the hospital bill attached.
I think that law will send the conservative Christians and anti abortionists to the local office of the ACLU in a New York minute! And the pastor of said church will be leading the charge as his sees his faithful congregation rapidly dwindle to nothing. Thus ending his life as a multi millionaire, and local demagogue.

George Carlin put it the beast way on the Anti abortionists. Haven't you noticed that most of the people that are against abortion are people you wouldn't want to f%%$ in the First place. The new Neocons want live babies so they can have dead soilders in 20 years. Yet once the baby is born forget about anything to help that unwed mother rase it NO FOOD STAMPS MEDICAD HOUSING HEAD START OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT UNTIL that child reaches 18 then all of a sudden they will swarm the kid with recuriters to join up so if you survive you can go to college on the US Goverment.

Fine then Rev explain Bushes last Budget then that 3.1 TRILLION MONSTER that cuts Medicare Medicad Food Stamps BUT INCREASES MILITARY SPENDING ANOTHER 150 BILLION AND STILL AFTER 6 YEARS DOES NOT PUT THE IRAQ OR AFGHAN WARS ON THE BUDGET.
