Hi everyone.
Has anyone else heard about the proposed new rule that will mandate driver facing cameras? I'll be honest right up front, I sell and install commercial grade CCTV systems, (and am not trying to spam!) I have a very intense interest in dash cams since I spent 34 years trucking all over North America and have personally had my butt saved by video evidence. Personally I'm totally against them! A camera system should be for the drivers protection, not as a club to be used against them!

I've heard of them, never seen one and hope i never do. My company does have a few and they are used with drivers that have had questionable accidents or other violations.( for awhile till they reprove themselves, it's that or quit) Personally I wouldn't put up with one! First I'd bitch and try to get it removed then a piece or two of cellophane tape over the lens to 'fog' it up after that I think I'd smear a big booger on it.

Hey if they wanna tune in to watch my gold digging........no bones! I disagree with them in principle though, I don't get a wee bit of privacy in this world that is slowly becoming Big Brother? Question, is this proposal for the US or Canada?

I haven't heard about a mandate yet... and I'm SURE the "comment period" will be well utilized, but... my boss has mentioned that he may install them sometime in the future. If he does? I got two words for him: I QUIT.
Now... on the OTHER hand... I have driven with a guy or two lately who would not last a DAY with them because he can't keep his eyes on the road! If I were the boss... I'd have fired him already! I've pretty much told the boss that I can no longer drive with him... for my safety. So... it's a two edged sword. But... since I KNOW that I am not looking at my phone all day while driving, I am NOT going to stand for this invasion of my privacy. If I want to jerk off going down the road.... lol.
