Hobo is still with us...but he's been laying low lately because of health problems.
He could use our best wishes, and last time I spoke with him, he seemed to be doing better.

Believe it or not... I think his mailbox is f-i-n-ally emptied out, so he will receive private messages.
I know his email link works, as I sent him an email awhile back. You can get that link, if you click on his name on any post above.

Been a couple years since I've talked to Hobo. I just hope that he wasn't still running for FEDEX under a private authority. Basic insurance and probably no disability. I still can't believe that the federal courts didn't make FEDEX stand up. oh well!

What truckstop are you at tonight GMAN? Good to see you again.

Hoggie I'm still gas hauler in Indy. Still loving it and paying the bills. I'm thinking of going OTR................

thought you'd like that.

Agreed. I'll never forget helping a Russian slide his tandems at the 'famous' I-55 truck stop at Bolingbrook, IL

And then spent another 30 minutes explaining to him how to get to Phoenix. I hope luck was on his side.........

I'm still around every now and then, kind of taking a load off of my social media footprint these days, deactivated my facebook account and only come on here once every few weeks just to see nothing new has happened.. I'm still pulling fuel with Mansfield Oil and loving every minute of it, by far the best company I've ever worked for .. Not sure how far you are from Forest view Ill, we run a terminal out of there, not to mention how much we have grown these last 6+years.. I'll be a fuel driver till the end or until I decide to move to the DEF division pretty easy work delivering DEF and believe it or not the money is better then fuel..
Glad to see you're still around..

I am sorry that I did not see your post until this evening. I have been having some issues with my internet lately. I think it is working OK right now. Glad to see things are going well for you. I have been spending more time than I would like in Oklahoma City at the TA. I have gotten stuck a couple of times trying to find a decent load out of the area that doesn't put me in a worse area. I just got back from Houston this afternoon and will be in North Carolina Monday morning. It sounds like you have been keeping busy. I guess fuel is sort of like pulling a reefer in that you have pretty consistent freight year around.

In fact, I WAS still with Fedex (ground) working for a contractor with great insurance. But, I had decided to go with another contractor starting the second week of June. So... on the last day of May, I texted my "notice" to my employer and was going to take a week off and have fun. Next morning... I woke up thinking I was having a heart attack! It was actually a "dissected aorta." I was lucky that it didn't rupture, and well... it looks like I made it to the hospital in time. Unfortunately, since my contractor declined my offer to work a notice, I was officially unemployed at the time. No worker's comp, disability, insurance, unemployment, etc. Lucky for me... I'm a VET.

My savings are almost gone, but... as Hoggie said.... I'm doing much better now. I'd say almost 80% of my old self. lol. Guess I'm gonna try to find another job starting in mid-November or early December. Don't think I should go back to Fedex though. Need to find an easier trucking job. Not good for me to have to wrestle those heavy dollies between doubles anymore. How heavy are those hoses on a fuel tanker?

I've talked to a lot of buddies and this ELD mandate is going to really make things difficult for the reasons you just noted and others. Little parts of our day to day and decisions like napping during traffic to drive later or getting to a stop after a long late night unload are going to get extremely dicey. Who loses? Drivers I'm sure. I'm sure we'll end up getting fined or docked pay because loads aren't arriving on time.
