Truckstop rewards cards:

For the most part, you'll receive one point for each gallon of fuel you put in the truck. If you pump 100 gallons, that's 100 points. The points are basically worth 1 penny. So, that 100 gallons is worth 1 dollar on the rewards card. Showers are normally added for each 75 gallons you pump, and typically expire after 7 days.
Some truckstops allow you to pay for items directly from the rewards cards (Pilot, Flying J & Love's), while the TA & Petro card requires you to go to a terminal and print a coupon for a set dollar value. The rewards cards are 100% free to you, so definitely get them for at least the major truckstops.

Most truck stops will give you a shower as long as you purchase a minimum of 50 gallons of fuel. Buying more won't usually give you an additional shower. Before Pilot bought out Flying J, they would give you shower credits with more fuel purchased. As far as I know, none of them will give you more than a single shower with more fuel. Most showers expire from 5-7 days from the fuel purchase date. All of the loyalty cards work pretty much the same way. Points can be used to make purchases in any of their truck stops.

I believe that Loves is awarding one point for each dollar spent, not per gallon. But then again I don't really look close at the reciept they also have different levels, Gold/platnum ect that depends on the amount of fuel perchased the month before.

It's per gallon pumped. Just looked at my last fuel purchase.

Apparently, Pilot/Flying J now only gives you 3-5 days to use a shower or it is gone forever. That is one reason that I only purchase fuel from them if I need a shower. I also rarely purchase more than 50 gallons at a time so that I can build up more showers. Flying J used to be great about accumulating showers. They would give drivers more showers than most of the other chains before they were bought out by Pilot.

I carry four major rewards cards:
Ultra One (T/A and Petro) Pilot (Pilot and Flying J) Love's Wilco With Ultra One, Pilot, and Wilco, you can also use your points to get a shower if you don't have a credit. I've not tried it with Love's, as I rarely fuel there. *Some* folks at Wilco know how to do that, and some don't. If that fails, scan the fuel islands for a daycab and ask the driver if he'd be willing to swipe his card so you can get a shower.
