Default Dumb Ass Non/CDL Question

First of I do not hold a CDL! I'm coming to you guys to maybe help settle an ongoing "discussion" that I've been having with fellow "Non CDL drivers" as to GVW weights of trucks. The ongoing discussion is:

Does the individual axle weights total out to the "Actual" weight of the truck?

My position is that the axle weights added together is the actual weight of the truck.
For talking purposes let say we are dealing with a truck with 2 rear axles and 1 front axle.

Thanks

yes the axle weights added together equal the total weight of the vehicle. A standard scale ticket shows individual weights for the steer axle, the drive axle, the trailer axle and the gross weight of the entire vehicle.

Question for the O.P.: Are you talking gross weight at the scales? Or are you talking Gross Vehicle Weight Rating? GVWR?

What I always heard was "Pull it around back and bring in your paperwork"

I think they are the most dreaded words in trucking. LOL

One time they asked me what I was hauling...and I said "frozen Chinese."

They said, "...you know that's illegal..."

And you said, Don't call them illegal! Use 'undocumented.'
