Default searching a truckstop near New York

Hi,
i`m new here and writing from Germany.
Next week, i travel for the first time to the USA and spend one week in New York. One of the first points on my "to-do-list" is to visit a big Truckstop to take pictures from trucks and maybe get contact to truckdrivers there.
We rent a car for two days and i need your help to find a Truckstop near NY. Can someone tell me, if there are some Truckstops on interstate 87, 287, 78, 278?
I hope you can read this threat in my perfect english and i would be glad to get some tips from you...

Best regards and "Keep it truckin`",
Holger

I haven't been down quite that far in years so my info is dated. I know there's some rest areas on 87 but don't really remember much else. I tried hard not to have to stop down there, but I do know that the NJ Turnpike has some big rest areas and parking for atleast 100 trucks that might be your best bet as it's close to NYC. Sorry couldn't be much help, hope you enjoy your stay here!

The short answer, no. And 78 runs through NJ and PA, not NY but there are 3 truck stops in NJ on 78. Exit 12 has one and exit 7 has 2. Also several in PA along 78, both chain and mom and pop.

Correct. Most truck stops have fuel and a restaurant.
A rest area is just that, a area where cars and trucks can park and rest.
