Default Damn GPS, anyway

In that story, check out the 'related story' in the top right. Get a close look at the photo (it blows up large) and what they think will pull that truck with.

That photo was taken in downtown Fairmont, on a city street which has no markings for "no trucks", even though I have trouble pulling with my empty S-10 Blazer. Grade-wise, I'd say it's close to 12-14%. It's a good thing the road stopped him, because at the next intersection down the hill, the street he's on ends in a T, with a small cliff directly in front of him.

It looks like a 2" strap from the farm supply store! Also looks like it goes over the access step to the rear of the trailer. Hope the Volvo is loaded heavy on the drives.

The simplest way to get it out (with minimal expense) is to raise the air ride on the stuck tractor to get the landing gear up or off the asphalt and then back up. It will be a tough go with the front end pointing down like that! You'd want to have the wheels chocked in the front and maybe some people to move the chocks as you moved back inch by inch.

Another STD following a GPS>nothing else to say!

Like I said, though, the streets in that area don't have any markings whatsoever to keep trucks off of them. In fact, directly to the left of those trucks is the newspaper office, which has trucks delivering paper and such on a daily basis.

If it was me, sitting where that front truck is, seeing what's below me, there would be a oversized tow-truck hooked up ASAP.

I've pulled trucks back when they were stuck before. But, I always used a chain off my flatbed, and I hooked around the axle of the trauler in front of me. I was trying to see what that guy was hooking up to. Even a 2 inch strap might be able to pull off an ICC bumper. And, I can't make out just what he is hooking up to.

Wow that was a close call. It could have ended realy badly for that driver. GPS doesn't belong in a truck IMHO
