Who are YOU warning?
#1
We've all seen them...
You're driving somewhere and suddenly a car in the opposite lane flashes their lights at you to warn you that there's a police officer hiding up ahead lying in wait to catch a speeding motorist. Sure enough, a mile ahead... there he is. You decide to do likewise, so you flash you lights to oncoming motorists so they don't get caught either. YOU MAY BE WARNING DANGEROUS CRIMINALS AND HELPING THEM TO ESCAPE DETECTION AND CAPTURE. Hundreds of criminals - murderers, drug smugglers, pedophiles, and others with felony warrants are captured every year for simple traffic violations such as speeding, running stop signs, etc. How many have gotten away because someone warned them that there was a cop ahead? Please think about that the next time you pass a police officer lying in wait to catch a speeder. The person you warn up ahead could turn out to be someone else's worst nightmare down the road!

Never thought of it that way Southron. Thanks for the post. Personally I don't flash my lights to oncoming traffic to alert them to police unless it's a wreck they are coming upon located in a bad area with poor vision. At the same time I don't tap my brakes after I've passed radar to alert the vehicles behind me. It's not my job to be on the lookout for THEIR speed and keep them out of trouble.

I usually get mad, and wonder why the hell are they flashing me.
Then I wonder if I shut my doors, and look in the mirrors to see if stuff is flying out the back. I'm more the kind of guy that would warn other drivers, with my middle finger.

Hasn't the media kindly provided us with enough stuff to be afraid of? Manly stores that sell home improvement and auto repairs parts now have a kill-a-germ dispenser mounted by the counter for crying out loud. Somehow my parents and grandparents lived to be a ripe old age and they shook people's hands now and then and didn't feel the need to wash theirs afterwards.
Er, excuse me, I digress. The "news" media makes gobs o' money from selling fear to us. If traffic stops are a good thing then let's make the whole country like Ohio (hehe - spent last week running US 23 north of Chillicothe). And then the media will make tons of dough with stories of Police-state-run-amok. People, you need to find fewer things to fear, not more.

Haha... that's why I sport a Bush/Cheney sticker! I can travel the country with immunity... spreading my commie agenda and kidnapping conservative babies at will!
