Default I guess winter is here

Sitting in Mt. Jackson, VA right now, on my way to Montreal. I get the fun of going through Watertown, NY today, where they're, of course, getting slammed. Yesterday was an ice storm there. Today, it's lake effect snow. They're calling for 12-16" of the white stuff over the next 36 hrs. I had planned on staying in Watertown today and crossing the border in the morning, but I may go ahead and get across and out of the worst of it. Just gotta see how it all pans out.

Holy crap - that was my worst winter drive EVER!!! I "thought" it was bad between Scranton, PA & Syracuse, NY. Nope - that was just a primer for what I'd run into between Syracuse & Watertown. Near whiteout, roads solid white, blowing/drifting snow, road closures from wrecks, you name it.

Oooo - it gets better - the snow will end tonight/tomorrow morning, but the high temp for tomorrow is 7f. The low for tomorrow night is -8f.

-8, no thanks. I thought it was bad enough today at 38 with a wind chill of 27 about 60 miles or so East of Mt. Jackson. We were warmer than places in Mississippi last night here, that's just crazy nuts.

Stay safe in that mess Mal.

The sub-zero temp will give better traction, and if the sun comes out, it will dry up the roads.

That area is rough winter driving, and I have seen as many trucks in the ditch around there, as say along hwy 80 thru PA.
