Default Do I remember a thread about the "religion of peace"?

Or, was it on another forum?

Not that it really matters when they are teaching kids violence.

The Arabic textbooks which show children how to chop off hands and feet under Sharia law | Mail Online

How to cut off the hands and feet of thieves and kill all the Jews and homosexuals?

That there is peace, that is.

I guess when they kill everyone on their hit list, there won't be anyone left to kill, so they'll have peace.

I seem to recall something about the thread you mention. I don't remember when it was posted or if it might have been another forum. We have discussed about everything at one time or another, so it was probably discussed. I have no idea how it might have been listed. Have you tried doing a search on the old posts?

It's too bad religion was ever invented. Not only is it a favorite reason for man to kill man, many people believe in doling out forms of punishment from hundreds and thousands of years ago because it's written in a revered book and considered to be God's Law.

One thing you can say for Christianity is severe forms of punishment from the Old Testament aren't being used anymore. I'm referring to stoning women suspected of not being a virgin on their wedding night kind of stuff. Christianity has evolved.

Funny how the newest major religion is the one that's rooted so far in the past.

The other thread really does not matter. The article says a brand new printing of textbooks in Saudi Arabia is telling students how to cut off hands and feet for steeling. (I can understand a temptation to do that after having $ thousands worth stolen. Metal lathe, vertical mill, among other things. There is a very good suspect but no proof.) Teaching school children to kill Jews and homosexuals... I may not agree with a homosexual lifestyle, but I can't agree with killing them. If that's what they are teaching kids, how can they claim to be a religion of peace? Or, maybe a better question would be to ask just what is their definition of peace?

Actually, they are not the newest. They came into existence the same time as the ancient Hebrews. But I have been reading reports that they are the fastest growing religion in the world. I'm wondering if the world economic situation has something to do with that. Some years ago, I read a report that extremist groups in this country preyed upon the lower income and less educated Americans by blaming blacks and Jews for the poor conditions they were living in. Groups like KKK, Neo-Nazis, and various para-military organizations. By comparison, Sharia Law seems to come pretty close to the same thing.

During economic down-turns, when more people were out of work, the extremist groups were increasing their memberships. With the world economic situation, is this a parallel or simply my preception of it? Instead of the religion of peace, it's beginning to look like the world's largest extremist group, under the guise of religion.

What do you guys think?

Organized religion has been the basis for brutality against man since the beginning of time and it is not going to go away... The basic core of Humanity allows for all men to lead or follow and those who choose to follow an imaginary tale are easily influenced into violence against anyone not seeing eye to eye with them. The human animal always seeks approval and acceptance in some form or another we all have this ingrained, some are able to work around these insecurities and accept the imperfections of life, while others seek solice in an imaginary man who was said to walk on water.. To each your own what ever floats your boat....
