I'm going to the LA area with the load. When I said I hadn't been north of Bakersfield (and meant Barstow) originally, I was thinking that they were on I-5, not I-15. So, the trip from Portland to LA will be completely new to me.

I'm swapping the load out north of Seattle, not *in* Seattle.

That is why I feel bad for you. There just isn't anything up there. Donna's in Marysville is it.

When you get down to Vancouver, take I-205 around Portland...save yourself some time.

I'll remember that (the 205).

Just took a closer look at the map for where I'm going in CA. It's not actually LA, but south-east of there just off of I-215 south of Riverside.

Sitting here waiting for time to roll. I have 38mins left on todays clock and pick up 9:16 at midnight. So, 'bout time to grab a thermos full of coffee so I can make it through the night.

When I get to the relay in the morning, I'll be finished for the day. I'm estimating just over 8hrs driving, so not enough time to head south and actually get anywhere, especially that time of day there. So, I'm hoping the relay location has food of some sort since I'll stay until the early morning of the 10th.

This isn't good. I arrived at the relay location as scheduled, but the other driver isn't here yet. Found out that he's stuck at US Customs in Blaine. They're unloading his truck and doing an inspection on him. The load is supposed to be delivered between 6 & 7 this morning. It's 6:25 now. I can't go much further north because I'm down to 54 minutes on my 70hr clock.

Fun, right?

So....... Where is it that you are sitting and waiting? Are you at Donna's in Marysville....or are you further up the road in Arlington?

I made it between Blaine and Seattle - that's all I can say on that.

What a day this has been - left out of Ontario, OR as scheduled and arrived at the original relay location exactly when I told them I would. The other driver wasn't there yet, but was at the border. 2 hours later - still at the border. 4 hours later - same thing. Turns out that the load he was bringing into the US didn't have all of the USDA paperwork. So, they unloading/inspected his truck. After they did that, they reloaded him and had him drop the trailer in the customs compound. Still no USDA paperwork.

So, now I'll deliver this load tomorrow morning (a full 24hrs late) and have lost the load to California. The other driver is out of hours for the day as well and has to sit until they figure out the load's paperwork before they'll release him.

I just know that I'm glad I'm not him. That would've drove me insane.

I gotta admit....I always liked the border delays! I usually made pretty decent money off them because they usually lasted 36 hours or more. My longest delay was at Sarnia ON for 5 days! LOL.....I made more off the delay time at the border, and then the steam time to get the load back to delivery temperature, than I made on the line haul for that trip!!

Well, that fiasco is finally over. I delivered the load this morning. I'll be picking up a load in Seattle tomorrow heading for Sioux, IA. It took them all day to find another outbound load, but I expected that to happen. The last time I was in the Seattle area, I sat for 30 hrs while they tried to find something.

I must admit, I was totally that dude on the couch with popcorn in Roadhog's image during this thread. Safe travels, Malaki86.
