I currently have 16 years of truck driving experience. I drove OTR from 1995 to 1999. I then got into the construction industry where I have been driving dump trucks, belly dumps and that sort of thing. I never let my CDL expire and I have ALL endorsements. I would really like to get back OTR as soon as I can but everywhere I look wants "recent" OTR experience or a recent truck driving school graduate. The ones that will talk to me wants to send me out with a trainer for several weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on the easiest way to get back on the road, preferably without the "trainer" option? Thanks.

I would check with smaller carrer's. Most of the major carriers will want you to either go to a driver's school for a refresher course or work with a trainer for a few weeks, or both. Insurance comapanies look at how long you have had your CDL. A smaller carrier might be more inclined to help you get started again.
