That Tour buses seem to be having a hard time staying on the pavement along the I-95 corridor??

Gives the DOT a target to go after other than the trucks, though. Look at the crackdowns they had in New York after the bad one up there.

What a mess it left most all of the day. Glad I was North of it, one of our office girls got stuck in it and didn't get in till 9:30, normally she's in by 7:30. They definitely pulled all responders possible, I passed a rescue heading hammer down onto the entrance ramp headed South out of Fredericksburg and wondered what the hurry was. That stretch of road is real easy to lull someone to sleep who's already tired since they re-paved it. Used to wake you up in a hurry with how bad the road was from I-295 North to the rest area just above the Carmel Church exit. Glad he didn't go roaring into the construction zone and take out any possible workers there.
Seems it was a fly by night company in more ways than one, the place they had an office in NYC suddenly doesn't exist anymore between last night and this morning. Fredericksburg.com - Four dead in Caroline bus crash

I read about that. Near an amusement park, I believe. I remember having those buses passing me all the time, and even going by cops. I'll bet they'll be running slower for a while. But, I also think that won't last long, and they'll be running full bore again.

Have you noticed that they all seem to be from New York City?

I've been through there many times. I've seen buses in that area come up behind other traffic like they were going to climb up somebody's bumper. A truck driver gets a ticket for being too close behind someone, but buses go right by cops in the median within 50 feet of the bumper ahead of them, and the cops didn't give them a second look. I may not be driving anymore, but I would not mind finding out that the double standard has been terminated.

Here's the timeline of the drivers actions:Fredericksburg.com - Bus driver asleep, court records say
Remember that they have different HOS that the govt now wants to change so it matches our's. They have 8 off for every 10 driven in a 15 hour shift. Looks like the owners need to serve some jail time also: http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2.../1307192266fls Last edited by Mr. Ford95; 06-04-2011 at 09:19 AM. |
