Bought me another plow truck.

I'm trying to get into snow and ice removal hard core. About 3-4 months out of the year we can get snow where i live. When it does snow there is big money to be made. My best year i made 13,000. My truck with plow and salter gets 100/hr and the truck with just the plow gets 80/hr. The truck with the salter gets alot more hours too. So i found a somewhat good deal on this new truck. 1996 F-350 with the 7.3 powerstroke in it. It has 68,000miles on it. Here are some pics of when i went to go pick it up. Overall it is in nice shape for being a 15year old plow truck.

Before its over with i want to put a plow and spreader set-up on my tri/axle dump and lease it on with penn-dot. They pay around 180-210/hr and you do alot of nothing. But the problem is a plow and spreader set-up is 18,000 give or take. Here is a pic of the tri/axle i ran for 2years for a guy who was leased on to penn-dot.

Both look like nice set ups, ever think of putting wings on that Western? You could pick up about 18" in width. It's hard to lay out much investment money on a maybe based on 3-4 months. Iv'e made some good $$ in the past but not close to what you've made. I had a couple of contracts for plowing only and a few driveways that paid cash.

Yea snow work is a big gamble. But when it does snow it pays real well. You do have alot of money out there. I mean my brand new plow and spreader cost almost 11,000 for the pair. and thats not even counting what the truck costs. The lowest year i had i made 4,500 and it hardly even snow that year.

DANG! I don't even have $4500 in my whole rig! I have a Army surplus Chevy 1ton that I hung my old TEE handle 8' Western on, an't fancy but she'll move just about anything! It's my camping huntin hauling plowing truck, $1500 and only 45000mi. when I got it. I love paid for stuff.
I always pay cash for all my snow plowing stuff. Just for the fact if it doesnt snow im not trying to make payments lol. But it is nice having new stuff in the middle of a snow storm. You really cant afford to break down. When it snows everything got to be up and running so you can make the money$$ Here are some more pics i took today. ![]()

Mack, how many yards can you carry in that tri-axle? Any idea what would be a good deal on haveing about 30-50yds of bank run delivered? Last time I had some brought in it was in a 6 wheel dump and I think he dropped 5-6yds at a time for $110 per trip (18mi round trip)
