I'm especially proud of this amp and cab. Both have been discontinued, and as far as I'm concerned were the best rig
for Solid State clean neutral sound. This rig works PRIMO with guitar modelers/processors. (the best!)

This little amp...will fool you. It's 150 watts and kicks butt. It will run 4 of these 1x12" cabinets.
To me...a single 1x12" cabinet is all I need! I can't brag enough about the Celestion GT 112SL speakers either. (awesome)

You have to run solid state if you want to use guitar processors. Tube amps have way too much "color" and you need as clean and transparent a signal as possible.

I use an RCA cable hookup to my guitar modeler. (I hook up different than most)
The RCA method lets you bypass the preamp and speaker emulator. I like this method the best. I get more pure processor this way.
I'm using a Digitech GNX4 or a Digitech RP150.
Ibanez Screaming Demon wah-wah pedal.

Holy crap, Hog, those photos are beautiful. I'm a real guitar gearhead. Crate amps in the '80s/'90s were definitely a good thing. So are we going to get any audio of you shredding these bad boys???

Thanks, but about some clips, I doubt it.

Learning recording would hurt my last few brain cells.
At this point, I'll be happy to just have the neighbors scream at me to turn it down.

it's always been my belief, it takes about 15,000 hours of practice to be worthy of recording.
I have about 10,000 hours to go.

You get away this time! You'd better come back with a recording after 15000 hours

I just realized how weird the RCA cable hookup is. I've never seen or even heard of anything like that. Right now I use the big brother of your RP150, the RP350. It's OK, but I haven't bonded with it. I like the solid state simplicity, but I'm still wondering if I want to get tone from a floorboard vs. an amp.

I'm going into the CD input (RCA cable) on the back of the amp, then to my RP150. (shown in photo)

Most guitarists use 1/4" instrument cables, and go through the effects loop, or off the power amp.
The RCA cable method lets me bypass the preamp and speaker emulator, putting the signal between the preamp and the power amp.
You will notice a difference in tone on your patches, if you split your signal between the two blocks, (preamp & power amp) using the effects loop of the modeler,
giving you line level instead of instrument level. (less noise interference from your pups)

I prefer a tube amp with a few stomp boxes, and the perfect cabinet, for my own sound and tone.
You can't beat these processors for getting dozens of great sounds from a menu.
It's like a huge bag of Halloween candy, and you wanna try it all.

I got the RP150, because I like my Ibanez Screaming Demon way-wah, better than then ones on the modelers.
The GNX4 was discontinued, and too bad, it was Digitech's best by far.

That's what it takes to be a pro. (virtuoso)
If you are serious about it, you can do it in 10-12 years.

If you practice like me though, times that by 3.
I can spend an hour going backwards at the beginning of every practice.

Here is what the GNX4 looks like, and another cool shot of "Big Rigger Jackson"

I always like this tune.
Death of Tony Scott (RIP) made me remember this tune.
Didn't know who Steve Stevens was when this came out.
He completely "faked" the guitar part for the video
damn sessions guitarists.....

"it starts out Latin, then 4/4 Slang, and back to Latin"

One of my favorite guitarists starting out was Wes Montgomery.
I would see George Benson on TV, back in the day, and was buying his records,
and poking around the record bin, that's how I found Wes.

Man, the Jackson is a beaut! The finish reminds me of a bowling ball, in a good way.

I used to play the Top Gun Anthem all the time as a kid - crank up the reverb and go to town. I like how they stuck a piano and an amp cab (but evidently no amp) in an aircraft hangar and thought that would be even somewhat believable

And, wow, that Wes Montgomery footage is incredible. You rarely get to hear your favorite classic musicians talk. I still don't know how he got such control with his thumb. Thanks for posting that.
