Default Is the "Fleece" on it's last legs?

TheTrucker.com - America's Trucking Newspaper

"No doubt carriers will be watching closely since trucker “misclassification” has been a hot-button topic for trucking companies. "

Interesting that this story is posted and dated today, yet it fails to mention that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts just yesterday whacked FEDEX 5+ million $ for misclassifying some of it's "employees" as independent contractors and failed to withhold taxes, workmans comp, SSI and Medicare etc.

The very "employees" Massachusetts has already determined to be misclassified are suing. Sounds like kind of a slam dunk, doesn't it?

"Reuters reported that this is the latest in a string of disputes between FedEx and truckers who want union representation. Truck drivers at FedEx rival United Parcel Service or UPS are represented by the Teamsters. "

What?

Yeah... What??
It makes no sense to me. So,.. FedEx aint Union. Big whoopy. FedEx drivers make decent pay, pretty good insurance, and they are suing because they aren't Teamsters?

Perhaps they need to fire them and start all over again. These people agreed to be responsible for their own taxes as independent contractors. No one held a gun to their head for them to agree to be responsible for themselves and their own taxes. I would like to see the IRS go after these tax evaders rather than FedEx. They should charge all of them with tax evasion. What a bunch of whining crybabies.
