Default Bluebird Closes Georgia Plant 350 out of work

Bluebird closes plant in LaFayette, GA and 350 will lose their jobs. Bluebird manufactures school buses. With many governments cutting costs fewer are purchasing buses. The company will move operations to their Ft. Payne, AL facilities.

I can blame it on the union even if that plant wasn't union.

Whether they are union or not, it has no effect on the plant having to close. Nobody is buying buses right now, school districts are being forced to use what they have even if it is an older model that should have been replaced already. Cities that have Metro buses are doing the same thing, using what they have instead of replacing with new buses. Blame the economy 100%, when it comes back you will see buses being replaced.

And due to the towns, cities, counties and other municipal governments stretching out what they have now I think there will be a couple of very good years for bus manufacturers and other businesses when the economy recovers after 2012.
