It's a 2-4 cup maker, and takes 40 minutes to brew.
I'll bet that's typical of most 12v makers, even if they brag differently on the box.

It could be worth it to you in emergencies. I've woke up in the morning in the middle of nowhere, with no coffee, and at that point I'm capable of burning the first small village I find.

As I said, I modified one of the 12 volt units. I used the "thermal limit" controls from a 120 Volt unit which are considerably higher than those in a 12 Volt unit. 10 cups in one third the time.

Malaki, have you thought about using an inverter that plugs into the cigarette lighter plug? (Vector for an example)

I've got a 400watt inverter, but the standard home (120 volt) coffee maker uses 900+ watts.

Ohh. Dang. I guess they use more juice than I thought.
Well...nevermind.

If you have a bigger inverter. Buy a good set of jumper cables. Hook up to make your coffee and whatever else you need then simply unhook and hide the inverter in your bag. I guess i am lucky not only do I have an APU but a big inverter also.

As for equipment, if I could have an inverter in here, I'd have a Keurig single-serve machine on board. I have a large unit at home and absolutely love it. It works out to roughly $0.60 per cup and we can have a choice as to what we want, whether it's coffee (dozens to choose from), tea (again, dozens) or hot chocolate.
Now I'm confused. The single serve would have been perfect for me if there had been someone there to attend to it because it took longer to get hot than I was willing to wait . . the whole cousin thing kind of creeps me but she isn't bad looking . . should I reconsider?

There are basically 2 types of the single serve machines - one is a literal single serve - each time you want a cup of coffee, you pour water in it (enough for one cup). It takes about 3 minutes to brew. The type I have at home has a large water reservoir and keeps the water hot. That one takes roughly 15-20 seconds to brew a cup.
