I miss Rev. At least he could get to the point without filling up the page. :smokin:

I don't know if he knows it or not but.....reading his posts for a couple years and then actually meeting him face to face for a few minutes just about the time he "disappeared" from the board AND the fact he's never been back has left me with the impression he's just one of those highly intelligent but strange persons we all run into from time to time...
Not that thats bad or anything....

Rev hung up his moderator cap and left the building after he got fed with some of the politicking going on. We discussed, at length, the addition of a political board and possibly a spiritual board but we figured in the best interest of catering to the board as a whole and not a few specific posters, the decision was made to leave things as is. The political bickering got to the point where he had enough and he walked away.
Sure there are politics on the board, more so today than even a few years ago. But it is part of everyone’s lives and we believe that the decision was the right one, even if I can relate to Rev getting fed up with having to deal with it. There have been a bunch of times when I’ve felt the same way and I’ve been close for a long time now to saying I’ve had my fill. Now that the politically correct version is out of the way, let’s get down to the brass tacks. Hobo drove him away.

Not that thats bad or anything.... NOW we know! Tony meets up with an honest to god Hillbilly...and he goes completely native! The Rev is probably sitting back in the woods on a hill in rural Alabama, with his bare feet up on an empty whiskey barrel, a cook fire in the back, and no electricity, computers, .......NOTHING from his past!!!

There is no need in rehashing the past, IE, so leave it be. Tony chose to leave because he was burnt out on moderating. Lord knows, I know how he feels. He thought the best way to make it easier to moderate would be to create private forums for all things political and spiritual. The rest of the mod squad disagreed because it would still have to be moderated and posters would still post where they wanted, leaving it to a moderator to decide where it should go. And if you want to know how well that works, take a look at what little remains of truck.net and the knitting club over on tsusa.
By and large, when members feel like they have to sign up for certain sections of a forum, that turns them off. And when moderators move their threads off the primary forum (on CAD, it is this Anything and Everything forum), they get ticked off at the mod and all sorts of hell erupts. It also forces the moderator out of trying to be impartial, even if they are being impartial. Every day, people will complain because the mod moved one thread to a different forum and not the other. So in the end, the idea just doesn’t work. The smoldering remains of truck.net, which was at one time the premier trucking forum on the internet, attests to that. So Tony chose to leave, rather than deal with it. And that’s just fine. He’s welcome back here at any time, should he choose to do so. He would never come back as a mod, because of the headaches and because he has to tone down the sarcasm, which is part of his personae.
