Default Can anyone tell me what this is?

I took a photo of the truck I'm thinking of buying. I just noticed this box on the dash in the photo. It's under the radio and above the heat and air controls. Almost in the center of the dash. It's the square black box with the grey buttons. It has 4 round buttons on the outside edges and like a simon says group of buttons in the center. I just noticed this and I am stumped as to what it is/controls. Any clues??

I'm probably the WORST at this on CAD.... and will probably rue the day I chimed in.... but, isn't that an International?

I don't see any mirror controls with your door/window controls. Int'l's have a "selectable" control mixed in with those toggles on your dash.

It just looks to me like it is an up/down... in/out.... mirror control. The buttons on the corners probably "select" the top or bottom mirror on either side.

Now... since you probably already TRIED that and found the controls ELSEWHERE.... I am probaly full of chit!

But, if I were a designer..... :smokin:

No the top mirror controls are above this box. They are on a twist toggle switch. You twist the stick towards the mirror you want to move. The bottom mirrors are manual adjusting. This box has completely got me stumped. I have never seen anything like this on a truck. It looks like an aftermarket add on. I just can't figure out what it would control. Maybe its a programmer for an on board weigh system or on board diagnostic thing. If not that I don't have a clue.

Yeah, after I put my glasses on (like they weren't already...) I saw the TWIST mirror control that my boss's Int'l has. So this is something different. Okay.... my NEXT guess:

"A built in XM radio controller?"

I do not know the technical name. But it is part of a voice qualcom or some such type system. A company I used to work for had a few of those in a couple of trucks. Instead of having to read the qualcom that puts a voice over you am/fm speakers.

Ok thanks pack rat. That makes total sense. The truck did have a qualcom before. It still has the cord in the floor from the system. You always learn something on here.

Pack is correct.. we have one in our truck to control the unit while we're moving if we get a new message.

That is the "remote" for your Qualcomm. Top left button is your function control. top right button is your "voice activation" for "Bitching Betty"(you have 9 hours of available drive time), bottom left button is your function return button, and the bottom right button is your function flip button. The arrows toggle you up, down, and left / right. Volume control is on the left side.

Some flipping genius decided that using that gem...Is less of a distraction while you are driving.
