Looking to get some input from the OTR drivers who are also involved with positions at their Legion or VFW post. With the Legion post I'm at, nominations are in June and I'm thinking about getting into an officer position, but I'm also hoping to drive OTR starting some time in May. This creates a conflict for me, in that I want to get involved, but I may not be able to religiously attend regular meetings and I want to see if anybody else has been doing this who may be able to give advice to the younger generation looking to step up.

I feel that when you take on a position of responsibility that you should be able to follow through. I was involved in something a few years ago and I was also concerned about giving 100%. Another guy told me that I should do what I could and not worry about it. I understand your dilemma. Perhaps there are others who could step up when you are not available. I would suggest talking to others in your post and explain your situation and go from that point.
