What purpose does it serve for the news media to completely ignore the frustration this guy must have been feeling and simply brand him as crazy? I'm not crazy (I don't think). Those on this board for whom I have the most respect don't seem to think he's crazy. Where is the freakin' disconnect?

He made it abundantly clear . . the noose of government has gotten too tight and he committed an act of violence to call attention to it. I don't applaud what he did but I understand it. As others have pointed out, this could be the first volley in a protracted effort. I'm getting the sense that I'm not the only one who thinks it might be the only means.

I don't think that this guy will be the last to become a martyr. The media is down playing what went on with this guy. I don't think that he was a nut case at all. He was frustrated by the lack of help that he received from congress and those who are supposed to represent him in government. Anyone who can afford to buy an airplane these days is not a crazy. And I am also not buying the minimum amount of damage that the media is claiming. I don't see how only one person was killed. By the way, the Austin office of the IRS is a major facility for them. It is where many tax records are kept. In fact, I believe that is where I mail my tax returns.

 

I really don't think it's the media "down-playing" it at all. I think the media is putting out what they are being given about all of this. For that matter, the media may have done some of their own digging. The feds closed his website after the crash, but I suspect that the feds found out that he had a website from the media, or we would not be able to read about his "manifesto". We might have heard about it, but it would never have been published.

Many times, I've heard that it's a very fine line between genious and insanity. He may have been very close to, or on the line.
