America's Got Talent.

They cancelled my run last night, so I was off.
My wife was watching, America's Got Talent. I've never seen the show. I thought it was kinda dumb, myself. There was some weird looking folks on there. She was explaining to me how they judge the folks, etc. She said that those people are just common people that want to show their talents, and try to make it 'big time'. I said, why don't they just try to make a CD, and go from there. She said, 'They can't. They have to go through here, and work their way up.' I said, 'Oh yeah, I'm sure Bob Wills had to show them how well he played the fiddle, or Marty Robbins sang, 'El Paso' in front of the judges.' She didn't think that was funny. :lol:There was this old man on there. He looked like he was 80 years old. He was dressed in a 'disco' outfit, and he had a "Elvis" hairdo. He was dancing. I never laughed so hard in my life. He was sent home. I thought he should have gone up. Have yall watched America's Got Talent? Do yall get into that program?

No offense intended Fredog.... but those are all RECENT shows. Rabbit was referring to how many of the OLD stars got their start. I was reminding him that this current generation of talent shows are not a NEW phenomena, and that many of the stars he mentioned may very WELL have gone through "talent show" judging before getting their big break.
Elvis was pretty much unknown before appearing on Ed Sullivan (for example.)

Thanks for bringing that up, hobo. I used to watch the Grand Ole Opry all the time.
Bob Wills was the first man to use drums at the Grand Ole Opry.
