Fuel prices have been on a roller-coaster ride on the way up over the last 40 years. This is the first time they've gone down that much. I have a feeling that someone realized just what kind of impact they have on the economy. Every now and then, I check in on "WILL YOU JOIN US.COM" and see just what the insame idiots are planning next. It used to be "raise the prices to discourage people from driving". Well, they did... I expect it will take a few years for prices to get back up again. And, I don't know how many years it will take before they reach their last peak. I had tried to tell the fools on that site that they were going to have whole families going homeless, but no one wanted to believe it. Now, they're seeing it. It may be a while before they spike like that again. At least, I hope it will be about a decade or more.
And, if you remember, Ross Perott was advocating an energy tax to pay off the national debt. Thank GOD he didn't get elected. Someone would find a way to blame it all on something else.
Strangely, I got in trouble last week for paying $0.02 more at a T/A instead of going to a Flying J.
Last Thursday I picked up a trailer in Richmond, VA. The ICC bumper had rusted free from the frame, so I had to go to the T/A in Ashland. Since I needed to buy enough fuel to make the trip to our yard, I figured I'd save an extra stop and got 40 gallons.
On Friday, my boss called me raising all kinds of hell over the 40 gallons at $0.02 per gallon more that I paid at the T/A.
I thought about putting a dollar bill in the paperwork when i turned it in, but thought against it since we're still low on freight and they'll prolly be laying off more of our drivers.
