Just a few corrections for ya Hobo. You're welcome!

Wow dont lock this thread yet Rev, Please.

This is a new way of arguing that I havn't seen on CAD yet. Usualy it is just flat out name calling, now they do it with style and big words that I have to look up. LOL
Not to mention it is so suddle imop, I didn't even know they where insults until you threatned to lock it up. Now I have to do my homework, since I havn't been in a 18 wheeler since 2004 alot of these new rules and regs, and even some of this new to me language means little to me. And if any was to shoot some of those my way I wouldn't have any idea what they where saying.. Kinda like talking to my kids??

I don't see how hobo keep up with this kinda talking or understanding it. Us old people don't learn stuff as easy anymore. but he being single shows that he is still just a kid at heart. But arn't we all??
I still think like a teenager when it comes to certain subjects. I still think of trying to play some of those realy cool video games, but can't seem to grasp the concept of them.. I still like a good argument and debate, but I need time to understand the wording of these newbies, in order to get some points across if I was to start back to discussing my favorits..

Oh, what the heck, you can do what you want' I can always read some other ones. Besides I am just typing to type.
Yep the same ol Slim, just rambling on, on what ever thought whims through his mind. and still can't spell correctly

There are SOME here who believe that this term applies to the newbie drivers that start out in this career with the Mega Carriers (also known as "coolie carriers."

The term was more or less "banned" under the old administration of this board under a mistaken belief that it was racial, prejudicial or bigoted. Luckily, the new (more conservative) administration, has deemed it once again to be acceptable language, and the "nasty word filter" hasn't been instructed to filter it out.

In its current incarnation, it applies to OTR drivers who, although making more money per week than ever in their lives, are "forced" to sleep in their trucks, see the country for free, and occaisionally sit at a shipper waiting to get loaded. As far as we know, it is only used by the mathematically challenged, anal retentive, local wusses who think they should be PAID for every minute of their day.... whether sleeping, showering or taking a dump! Since we ALL do these things every day anyways, I believe the critical differentiation is whether you do it in the same boring slum dwelling you grew up in.... as opposed to doing it in an exciting part of the country you've never seen!

But, as they will be the first to "insinuate," it is really all up to you. But, their opinion of you and their characterization of your intelligence weighs in the balance of your decision.

The term "Coolie" does have some racist connotations to it, according to some. Granted, it's not used in that context here, but it is still a term that, if used too much (as it has been lately), will find itself gone.

You mentioned this "racist" connotation before, Rev. So, I was forced to look it up. According to my edition of Websters, the term is actually a HINDU word meaning:

Hired servant.
In the Orient, an unskilled native laboror.
A person doing heavy labor for little pay.
It would seem that in the Orient, it is not even considered prejudicial or racial.... just factual. Yes, I realize that at one time it had a racial connotation here in America, regarding the Chinese laborors... but, as you say, in THIS context it is simply a negative classification of OTR drivers or the companies that abuse them.

I agree that it shouldn't be overused, but I've heard much WORSE characterizations of Muslims and Mexicans on here.

As for locking the thread.... I don't see why. You KNOW that Bel and I just like to rib each other! Besides.... even Slim says I was being suddle with my inuendo! Surely, you can tell the difference between that and a full blown attack like the one I launched on BigD long ago over him altering my username.

Perhaps, as evidenced by your pre-emptory comment, I gave you the impression that I was going to have a "blow out" on this thread. I have no such intention. So, you can take a break and go on line 5 for awhile! :lol2:

I would like to have a virtual "blowout"...I'm experiencing a lot of stress. I'd like some good directions to the closest Line 5.
