Default Bought an International today!

Rescued this old International panel truck today. It is a 1948 model KB-2. Had been sitting beside a barn since 1973. Here's a crappy pic. which makes it look worse than it is. Should have taken better pics. before I put it in the shop. Can't be to many of these around anymore. Anyway, thanks for looking.

This pic. will be my inspiration. Mine will look this good by the year 2050.

That's gonna be one sweet looking truck when it's finished.

Finding parts for it is going to be an adventure. You can't just go an order a new fender or whatever from a catalog like you can with a ford or chevy. Will probably be spending a lot of time on Ebay.

What did you have to pay for it? Is it running?

I gave the guy $500 for it, think he was happy to get rid of it. I don't know if it will start up or not yet. The engine is complete and will turn by hand but just want to go over it and make sure everthing is kosher first.

For $500, you can't go wrong.

You would be better off getting Hemmings Motor News for something that old especially to find parts for. Year One I thought was only for muscle cars like Ford , GM and Mopar products.

Years ago, I got involved in rebuilding the engine for a 1936 CHORD. We didn't have the internet back then. Getting the crank and cam journals ground was no problem, but, we had to re-babbit the old bearing shells. We got really lucky that the connecting rod bearing yokes were not stretched. Ran fine when we got done. The doctor that owned it drove it a couple of miles, then put it in his little private museum, along with the other three.

From what I understand, he made his money when it invented the "PACEMAKER".

For body parts, you might try a place called "KSI INTERNATIONAL". I don't know if they go back that far, but it's a company that sells new aftermarket autobody parts. They have several locations, and I don't know if each is for a different type of product, but I'm most familiar with the one in Plainfield, NJ. I used to get loaded there and have 12 to 18 stops that started in central PA and ended in North Platte, NE.
