Unlikely. It will be four more years of nothing really changing much, just like the "change" promised by the 2006 Democratic Congress. Assuming, of course, that a wacko doesn't assassinate him, in which case whatshisface gets to be President.

who ever became the next president would have had a tough job over the next few years. obama keeps lowering that 'magic number' which he determined what rich people make. so, what happens when the economy turns around and all these people start to make money again. like all the contractors, builders and real estate agents during the housing boom. all of a sudden their taxes go up along with their income bracket. these same people crying now will complain about their higher taxes.

all i can say is, everyone who voted for obama will get what they deserve. and when they bitch about things later, all i will say is that he is your president. you voted for him.

I hear you mommee... perhaps I voted for him, perhaps I didn't. But I do know that he is now our president and I will support him. (insert patriotic music), unless his actions are blatantly remiss of the good of the people. I truly don't believe that any huge difference in world affairs and the economy can be made in four years. Hopefully a start will happen, but it will take more that one leader, one nation to "GIT-R-DONE" :hellno:

Obama is a 1 term president, period. Unless of course...

That thought aside, canned goods. Canned goods and toilet paper. You can never have too much of either.

I have seen several posters here make that statement. I can not find anything to back it up. As far as I can tell our President elect has said no such thing. Can somebody point me to a source that says otherwise?

I think you're a little paranoid and I think you give the President elect way too much credit. Relax, nothing ever changes. It's like ground hog day.

I will look for something. NM governer Bill Richardson weighed in the most recently lowering the "magic" number to $120K/yr. I watched it on the news but I'm not really good at finding things later. I'll look.

ETA: During the debates (April 2008), here's an exerpt from the transcript (questions for Clinton and Obama) - http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Barack_Obama_Tax_Reform.htm

Q: Can you make an absolute, read-my-lips pledge that there will be no tax increases of any kind for anyone earning under $200,000 a year?

CLINTON: I will let the taxes on people making more than $250,000 a year go back to the rates that they were paying in the 1990s.
Q: Senator Obama, would you take the same pledge? No tax increases on people under $250,000?
OBAMA: I not only have pledged not to raise their taxes, I've been the first candidate in this race to specifically say I would cut their taxes. We are going to offset the payroll tax, the most regressive of our taxes, so that families who are middle-income individuals making $75,000 a year or less, that they would get a tax break so that families would see up to $1,000 worth of relief.
Q: You both have now just taken this pledge on people under $250,000 and $200,000. OBAMA: Well, it depends on how you calculate it. But it would be between $200,000 and $250,000.

You can see Biden himself here lowering the limite $150K http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8sWT_SSQwE

Then this came from the Fox News website (http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/31/low-richardson-pegs-middle-class-making/) - a mention of Richardson (a huge Obama supporter...since he (THANK GOD) didn't win the bid) so take it or leave it...

I'm just trying to locate where the numbers originated...
