We only took one load down. I believe we got to Louisiana around 7-8pm the night the storm hit. They closed the roads. I think they woke everyone up around 3 am and left around day break. There were about 70-80 trucks in the convoy. We had to unload in Pasadena. We hauled a couple of other loads and then left the area. It isn't worth the hassle. I would have hoped these people would have gotten their stuff together after Katrina, but that wasn't the case. We could have hauled more freight into the area, but I didn't think it was worth it for what they were trying to pay. It might have worked if there were decent paying loads coming out. Some people were taking loads paying as little as $1.20/mile.

We got a pretty good rate going down and were supposed to be paid a daily rate for sitting and shuttling trailers around Houston. After we had 2 loads cancel I decided to leave. I was paid TONU and for sitting over night, but I didn't want to get mixed up in all that disorganization. I think they booked too many trucks going in and didn't know what to do with all of them.

Well I talked to guy today that was there when I was and he just left there today and he said there where tons of trucks still there and that they were sending some over to Austin,Tx to dump there ice on a runway to melt but there are still people in Galveston that are needing this stuff, does that make much sense? He also said there were still trucks pulling in last night.

i don't who you work for but we were getting $350 per day to the truck plus milage add stop pay. we were on FEMA for a week and MY gross was over $2000. i worked 16hr. and the wife worked 12hr. if they want to pay us $350 a day to just sit around i'll take it.

btw o/o were making $700-$900 per day plus milage.

Ya I talked to some guys that were getting that. I feel $ 360 a day was not bad for just sitting there as a company driver, better then those other guys getting $100 a day as company drivers.
