Default have the deer in the USA finally gotton smarter ?

Is it just me or have you noticed too that deer you see on the side of the roads seem to have finally figured out that they can get as close to the edge of the road as they want and not get run over that if they try to cross thats when they get smashed seems like a few years ago you would see them dead all over the place along the roads now its more like the have evolved and figured out that things work out better if they stay put not saying you still dont see some dead ones now and then but for the biggest part its like they had i light bulb go off and finaly figure it out

Perhaps there just aren't as many of them that haven't been killed.

Unfortunately, there are many, many more deer today than there were when Columbus hit the beach in 1492. Cars and trucks have replaced wolves and cougars as the predator of choice.

It's just a case of "NATURAL SELECTION". The ones that know better are surviving to reproduce, and the ones that do not know any better are being killed off. Ma Nature at work is all.
