Default My wife and taxes

In the past my wife has always done our taxes and did a fine job. But...
When we do the taxes this year it will be the first full year with me as a OTR Driver. She is still insisting on doing the taxes. I say we should have them done. What with the 52 bucks a day and all the reciepts saved , and from what I understand theres alot of differences in the trucking industry.
Should we let her do them, or should I give up sex and insist we have them done. Thanks for any help you can provide. BJS

Which would you enjoy less?

A) Not being screwed by your wife.
B) Being screwed by the tax man.
C) Both (buy good lube).

Personally, I would try your best to discuss this logically with your wife and explain that the situation would best be handled by a professional. However, your wife is likely to see it as an attack on her because you don't think she is capable of doing it.

You might have to sleep on the couch for a while, but at least you'll have a couch (and house to put it in) if you have your taxes professionally done. Aside from that, you'd stand a much better chance of getting more money back via deductions and what not that way too.

Make copies of everything you have.

Let the wife do the taxes, at the same time take everything to someone experienced with doing taxes for drivers. Don't let her mail off the forms until you have the forms back from the tax guy (or gal).

Compare the two and see what you lose/gain.

If the professional gets you back a significant amount more, show this to the wife and promise her a night out at the restaurant of her choice.

If the wife does the taxes as well as the professional, pay whatever you owe him and never mention it as long as you live.

I have a BA (accounting major) degree from the University of Michigan ...
I say let the wife do them. Make a spreadsheet of all itemized receipts
and categorize them. Indicate the spreadsheet location of the expenditure
on the receipt. Keep up with entering the info and you should be fine. Plus,
you could go to a really great forum (CAD) and ask for help.

Do -it-yourself tax returns are much better than do-it-yourself sex
