VERY unusual!!

 But I thought they were all Mormons?

Funny thing that.. when I did drive for Swift, I was always hesitant about driving through northern Indiana at night, as the roads had no shoulders, and those Amish buggies would always be half in, half out of the travel lane. Their being painted black didn't help very much, in spite of the orange triangle on the back of them.

Could be, Rev!!

Another possibility is that the horses were shut down behind the chicken house and placed out of service because they fialed to meet anti-pollution standards!!

Those photos were very cool. 8)
You could just see the deep pride those fellas felt about the work they did, and in the company they worked for. It was nice to see.
Did your company do anything like t-shirts or ballcaps with that centennial emblem on them?
Quiet as it's kept, that's something to see...sort of comforting, too, since there's a serious level of stability in a company that's ridden through the storms that one's been through!
Thanks for sharing those. Very cool.

I wasn't there during the centennial, but I think they gave out shirts, caps and jackets. They also put the centennial logo on all of the trucks they had at the time. I don't think they're putting them on our newer trucks, though.

I can remember as a kid, our phone number was 5-digits. We called our operator by her first name..:P
A long distance call was real special, and I remember we use to have to shout...like people do now on cell phones.

So what? The Amish have been around much longer, and they still use horses.
I was up in Pennsylvania a few months ago, and I came up behind an Amish buggy that was painted WHITE!!

VERY unusual!!

As I drove past it, I saw a sign on the side of it, which read:

SWIFT

I thought the reason the Amish painted their carriages black was because they did not want to be confused with SWIFT trucks, they cant back very well either by the way which gets me to thinking do you pull the left reign if you want the buggy to go right while backing

Just be happy they aren't painting them Werner blue. They'd be tearing the legs off their horses.
