CSI Miami finale brought back Caine's son, his ex, and Ron Saris...the murderer that married Caine's ex and always rubs it in his face. Alex left the show 2 episodes ago...the new M.E. shows up at the very beginning, has 3 speaking lines, and gets shot and killed.
The ensueing investigation leads to Saris, the guy that wants Caine dead. They have a very cool back and forth about Saris wanting Caine dead.
Saris: "It would make Father's Day easier on the kid."
Caine: "Ron, you'll be dead by Father's Day."
To wrap up the ending, they raid a warehouse where they arrest the guy responsible for a murder earlier in the show. He makes threats to Caine, basically saying he's a dead man. As Caine gets ready to walk off, you can just see the outline of his jacket on the edge of the screen and if you're not looking, you miss the fact that he's whispering something to this guy.
Show ends with this guy on a phone in prison saying just tell me when it's done. Then you get three shots of:
1. Saris unloading a new type of alloy bullet
2. Caine's ex putting a gun in her purse and saying she has something to do
3. Caine's son, who is mad at Caine, pulling a gun out of his bag and making sure it was loaded.
Final shot is where Caine is standing outside of an airplane that his ex and son are supposed to be on, as he's sending them out of the country for their safety. You can't tell if they're on it or not, but the door closes and he is texting someone on his cell when there is a single shot and down he goes.
Switch to Wolfe walking out of the CSI headquarters, answering his own text on his cell which says... "it is done."
Show ends with a shot of his broken sun glasses lying next to his body...the same broken sunglasses they've shown all season on trailers.
So, you're left with 3 possible suspects and Wolfe somehow being involved. My own CSI investigative sense tells me that Caine is faking his own death in order to get to Saris and he was the one texting Wolfe, who is working with him.
Remember, Caine doesn't play by the rules. This is the same guy that has no problem gunning someone down to save the taxpayers money. He also, if you missed it, took down a scared-to-death pedophile a few episodes ago by taking off his watch and saying "you really shouldn't be resisting arrest," before apparently beating the wholly hell out of him. That was a good one.
Anyway, I expect Saris to get a dose of Caine-justice on the series premier. I think David Caruso still has a decently long contract, so they won't be writing him out of the show.
