Ya - that's probably it - the fuel surcharge. Anyway, I'll call the company on Monday and explain it to them. Even though the extra money looks good in the bank account, it's not worth it.

reminds me of the time the driver got an extra 500 on his check and didnt say a word, about a month later they discovered it and took the 500 out, he went in the office screaming about the deduction, the boss said, look, when we accidently overpaid you, you never said a word, now you are in here complaining. the driver said,, well I'm willing to overlook ONE mistake..

The simple fact is they will discover their error. It may be weeks, it may be months, but believe it they will find it. Telling them ASAP is best because it's the right thing to do. It could also help you keep your job!

It's kinda like the time I went to the ATM, pulled a $20, and my receipt showed my balance was $3,500.00...pretty good since I knew I only had about $200 in there. The bank fixed it before the end of the day! There have been stories of people seeing erroneously placed funds in their accounts and withdrawing the money...the next thing they feel is the bracelets being placed firmly about their wrists.

I will say, this thread tells me that despite what we may see and read about in the media, most people are still upstanding, honest and decent.

[quoteNormally, you have to fight to get paid for your detention time, and when they finally do pay it, the pay range is $5-10 per hour. This check is different.

The detention paid me $140 per hour for 6 hours - total of $840 paid to me. Now, I'm almost positive that the payroll dept screwed up on that one. So, should I tell em or not?[/quote]

As you say the company makes you fight for detention time and then if you finally get it they start you at $5 bucs (less than Min wage) per after a 2hour waiting period. That's like $2.50 per hour for the first 2hours.. And you feel guilty?

They have accountants. They WILL find it.

Call them and point out their mistake asap. It will raise YOUR value (to yourself AND to them) now more than a couple bucks ever could.

I called in first thing this morning. When I told the payroll woman that there was a problem with the detention on the load, the first thing she did was get very defensive, saying that they'd pay the detention to me as soon as they received the money from the broker. That made me laugh.

After I told her that they'd paid me - very well - for it, she said "oh my God, not again..." So, they're going to break down the "overpayment" that they'll take out of my pay over the next 4 pay periods.

So, all is good now.

to bad it's not like a checking account-- where you could run down and close out the account ---Before they discover their mistake....

when they do...I'd be demanding they only take it back-- $25 bucks a week!
