New question. Decent paying jobs for loners.

Since getting back into the truck is a tough thing to deal with right now, does anyone know of any other, decent paying jobs that are non-CMV?
After that embarassing, fatigue-related accident of mine, many have openly stated to "seek other options, and don't even think of coming back!" I've looked into that and decided that the other reason I enjoyed driving a truck was the mere fact that I didn't have to deal with people, up close and personal, on a daily basis. Not to mention I don't have any real intention of starting a family, relationship,. etc Most of the so-called, high-paying jobs requiring a BA/BS all involve working with 8-20 member teams. So far, I've leveled other possible options to; mobile Diesel-tech, elderly-care home-RN, law-enforcement officer in a desolate area, or an installer for cable/satellite in remote areas. If I get certified in one of these, I'll most likely abandon it once I'm clear to get back on a truck. But, that withstanding, does anyone know of any others?

Serial killer. they seem to keep to themselves. Unabomber. Cult leader, I hear if you can learn your bible verses and have any sort of knack for stockpiling weapons you can make a decent living at it till the government comes in and tries to shut you down.

Off Shore, Deep Dive Underwater Welder--
you'll spend weeks at a time in a tiny underwater submersible diving Bell-- all by yourself-- will work along in dark, cold deep water- with only someone at the other end of a radio comm. You'll make INSANE MONEY-- then have 2 months off at time.

I haven't given up my efforts of getting back into it, and so far I've come upon a few, different companies that will take me in so I could get some "accident-clearing" experience. But, I'm also telling myself to not sit idly by and pretend something good's going to happen. In the six months that have gone by since, I've been working full-time in my old, security job and have also been perusing catalogs at the local college for other, interesting degree programs. I never really had a clear, path on what I wanted to do as an actual career, but the "loner-thing" became apparent some, time ago. All these fancy, careers other's have been telling me to give up trucking for; engineering, teaching, chemist, marketing analyst, < insert military job here >, would all be a waste of time and money due to their, largely, team-oriented ways of doing everyday work. Aside from that, the deep-sea, diver option sounds pretty cool as well. I've also thought about Border Patrol as well. I've already read some articles in the paper on how the upper's will usually have one officer patrolling an entire section of open border. And as far as being a mortician when the undead-apocalypse strikes, "Head Means Dead!!!" |
