Just because they want to shut there trucks down does'nt make it a strike!!! And if they do, so what. This is still a free country.

My truck was shut down half the day for repairs today. Then tomorrow I have to drive 2hrs to drop the trailer at our yard and go home until sometime Wednesday.
Does that count for anything?

Well I travel a 30 mile section of I75 on my way to and from work each day. From the amount of trucks on the road this morning I guess this must be some kind of "rolling" shut-down / strike.

Heartland express O/O = base pay $.95 GREEN MILE$ $.99
Jb Hunt = 90 cpm Schneider = 90 cpm Crete O/O = from .86 to 1.50 but it is a sliding scale with the least pay at the higher mileage. I guarantee you that any of the big companies have numerous O/O's leased to them that are doing as well as the best Independents out there. By the same token, there are also many O/O's leased to large companies that are losing their shirts like many poorly run independents. In the end, the only difference is that when leased to a company, you don't have to worry about the "cheap" freight. You're getting paid the same regardless of what the company bid for the run. However, a company leased O/O still has to: 1. Run compliant. 2. Don't speed 3. Reduce idling. If he doesn't, he'll fail just like an independent that doesn't follow those three rules.

Well Rev. V. I apologize to everyone then. I haven't officially striked today, even tho I agree SOMETHING needs to be done as well, but I'm not running today. I've been home for a little over 3 weeks now due to a fractured elbow and a shattered wrist.
My heart goes out to all the independants, but I do agree with Twilight Flyer's signature. As I company driver I run 68 mph, 5% idle time (per month) and run compliant. I have no thought on how we can lower the fuel prices.....so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

I think several people here need to re-read the original post. I was calling for a strike against the strikers, accomplished by running profitably today and every day.
